In this episode of Made It we speak with Caitlin Benson from Cinder and Honey about the way experimentation, family, and passion led to a successful business.
Caitlin Benson is an embroidery artist living in New West, BC
Her business, Cinder and Honey was born after experimenting with a knit based Etsy shop that never quite took off.
The reason was partly because her heart wasn't in knitting.
As soon as she discovered embroidery, a world of opportunity opened up and she found a voice that has resonated with a community of over 130k on Instagram.
But Caitlin doesn't go it alone. She works closely with her husband in all aspects of her business.
We loved hearing about the way Caitlin and her husband work together and the way she has been able to find her niche by following her passion.
In this episode of Made It, we speak with Caitlin about:
- How finding a passion in embroidery grew her business
- How she balances a successful side hustle with a 9 - 5
- The way Instagram has helped her build a community and move her business forward
- How nature and the world around her inspires her work
- Why you don't need a fancy camera to take beautiful images
We absolutely loved speaking with Caitlin and hearing the way she is creating a business that inspires others to try their hand at a craft.
This interview is full of practical advice that will help anyone who is feeling lost in their craft or struggling to find their passion.
We hope that you take inspiration from Caitlins's story and turn her lessons into your own actions.
