This episode of Made It, we speak with Meri from Gardens of The Sun.
If you're into sustainably made jewellery, whose quirks are found in their rough edges, then Gardens of The Sun is going to be your dream label.
Design by Meri Geraldine, Gardens of The Sun was born from Meri's desire to spend some time doing something just for her. And it was this pursuit that led her to a course in jewellery design.
Gardens of the Sun is currently Meri's side hustle while she works as a sustainability consultant. She lives in Indonesia but travels the world as part of her role. It was on one of her trips that she found suppliers for conflict-free gemstones which she's introducing to her business this year.
Meri discusses the huge part Instagram has played in the success of Gardens of The Sun. She talks about the tactics she uses to build and engage with her audience daily, we're always chuffed when we get a comment from Meri.
One of the great parts about this interview is Meri discussing the help she has in making her creative dream come alive.
She designs the pieces, has assistance from a local producer and employees members of the local community to help her fulfill and send orders.
In this interview, Meri shares:
- Why she wants her business to give back to the makers
- How she found her voice embracing imperfection
- The way her work in sustainability and living in Bali impacts her designs
- How she uses Instagram as part of her growth strategy
We got to do this interview sipping coconuts by Meri's gorgeous pool. Bali is a gorgeous and vibrant place, some of the noise from the neighbourhood is audible through the interview but we hope you stick with it and uncover ideas you can implement in your own business.
Specifically, we're hoping that you take inspiration from Meri's story and turn her lessons into your own actions.
We have loads more interviews and business tips coming so make sure you subscribe to Made It.
