Is it just us or does a change of season inspire you to give your business the refresh it needs?
Spring has sprung here in Australia and it’s brought with it the feeling of new beginnings. Elliot and I are taking long walks in the park, cooking up new ideas (stay tuned!) and feeling refreshed.
Is it the same where you are?
Across the globe changing seasonsseems to bring with it feelings of newness; whether you’re drinking hot chocolate and wearing flannel or emerging out of the winter slump now is the perfect time to embrace the new energy of the season and make some changes.
Why not turn this attention to your business and harness give it the refresh it needs!
Here are the top questions you need to refresh your business.
Does this Spark Joy?
Let’s take the lead from Marie Kondo and the Life Changing Magic of Tidying up and turn your attention to your products.
Take a look at your physical stock or online pieces, or blog content and ask yourself, does this spark joy?
If you get a hell yes coming from your body, then keep that product online or in your craft fair stash.
If you get a no, why not think about reducing the price? Or pulling together some things you can offer as an extra gift with purchase at holiday time.
This can seem a little bit scary but it will be worth it - having a curated website that truly speaks to you and your brand will resonate deeply with shoppers.
Spruce up your Photography
Take a look at all of your images across your website. Are they all consistent?

Are they all similar? Do they show the best features of the products?
Like any craft the more you do something, the better you get so take the time to reshoot some older listings or update your look entirely.
Take a look at some shops that are doing a similar thing to you for inspiration!
Review what it is that makes your peers shop so great and try and incorporate a little of that into your online home.
Do a digital audit
Are you trying to run a Snap Chat, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram, Online Shop, Google +, Facebook Page and Pinterest?
I’m exhausted just writing that!
Spend some time looking at your digital channels and identifying what ones you like the most, and what ones are working for you.
Sure, it’s great to be on all of these channels but in reality, who has time to manage these successfully?
Why not pick the channels you love the most and dedicate energy to providing items, content and building a community on them?
It’s better to do a few things really well then a lot of things half heartedly.
Here at Maker Academy, we’re going to follow our own advice and review our images, update our copy, make those extra pages and kick off some of our product ideas!
